A Word In Your Ear presents
A Story-Walk through the Pleasure Gardens
Fictions and facts as you stroll through Bath's past and present.
Join story-walker Clare Reddaway to explore a selection of Bath’s green spaces. Clare will share hidden facts and freshly written stories inspired by the paths and pavements we walk on every day. We’ll encounter labyrinths and musicians, steam trains and brass bands, and maybe a grumpy old lady leaning on a stick. Experience the colourful history and contemporary life of Bath with fresh new eyes. Walk, listen, discover, enjoy!Clare regularly leads popular story-walks in Bristol for the Clifton LitFest, the West of England Irish Culture Festival and the Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project. Her entertaining mixture of history and stories captures walkers’ imaginations: ‘Innovative’ and ‘An absolute joy!' said participants. 'A magical way of storytelling,’ ‘We were entranced’.The walk will take approx 1 hour 50 mins. Unusually for Bath, it is mainly on level ground, with two gentle slopes. The paths are occasionally uneven and could be wet, so please wear sensible footwear. Suitable for 12 plus. This is Bath, it might rain. If the event has to be cancelled due to bad weather, tickets will be refunded or can be transferred to another walk day. If you are interested in the story-walk, you might enjoy the accompanying site-specific creative writing workshop 'A Green Thought In A Green Shade' on Saturday 31st May at 10.00 am.
