Nine Volt Leap Recording Studio presents:
Bureau de Change, Surface Air, Kill Mirror Image.
Nine Volt Leap Recording Studio present a night of artists they champion and support, curated by studio owner, Dominic Bailey-Clay. Bureau De Change. The rambunctious and loud local crime syndicate that no one asked for. Flora, Will, Connor, and Louis have been playing all over the UK and Europe with other industry darling projects and have come together to create a sound that truly stands out amongst the ever-growing and developing UK post-punk scene. The band's recognisable writing style, full of sardonic humour and decisive political messaging, is carried by their strong feminist undertones, using striking imagery to draw idiosyncratic parallels to the world around them and the romanticised version of femininity. This is juxtaposed by the disjointed musical prowess (or lack of) to create a definitive sense of dissonance. The group has worked together to create a melodic and striking wall of sound that fills your entire body, a band that's strength come through in their love of performance both live and recorded.Surface AirFrom the splintering bone ashes of prog, punk and the sallow remains of no-wave springs a rare bird of apocryphal breed.Surface Air is a newly formed Bristol-based three piece and features Kilian Lee (Windshake) on guitar and vocals, Oliver Cocup (Lawi Anywar, My Octopus Mind) on drums and Arthur Harrison-Ward (Captain Gas, Dog Daughter) on bass. Immediate musical influences include King Crimson, METZ and St. Vincent. Initial aims are to create a body of work for live performance and imminent recording.Kill Mirror ImageFast & Loose Post-Punk trio, all fighting for the role of frontman. Formed in 2020, the band sing and shout about the disparity and reality of living in a post-modern world and frantically aim to keep distance from others, like a musical kind of agoraphobia. Kill Mirror Image are releasing an album at the end of the year, their first as a trio.Nine Volt Leap has been run by producer/engineer Dominic Bailey-Clay for the last 14 years - "My aim when opening the studio was to create a comfortable, affordable yet high end recording studio for all to use. As a young musician I wasn’t able to afford to record which lead me to learn how to do it myself. I started with the most basic of equipment and slowly built up my knowledge and started seriously pursuing a career in sound."Whether it be an album, an E.P or just a single, I am able to help and I always want to get the best from every session I am involved in no matter how big or small. I always work closely with every artist and band to make sure I am on the same wave as them before we go in to track. I want to know what you want so I can make it happen."I love to have fun recording and believe that it should be fun, creative and never stressful. I love to experiment with bands if they wish to. I have a lot of different instruments, effects and acoustic spaces that can be used to createsomething truly unique".
