Dead on Lawn - Mysterious Death of Foreign Lady

This headline in the Bath Chronicle in September 1917 reported the death of Eva Jablonski, a young Polish woman, found on the lawn of a house in Laura Place. Drawing on research from Christina Hilsenrath's book, Jews in Bath - a community and their Burial Ground 1700-1945, this talk reveals the circumstances of her death and the lives of other Jewish women who lived and worked in Bath during the 18th-20th centuries, including dentists, chiropodists, survivors of domestic violence and divorce, enterprising shop owners, and the earliest known British Jewish painter.
